Board the Icarus

Icarus Rising is a Heavy RP FC centered around the ragtag crew of the Icarus, an airship that travels the star in search of odd jobs, bounties, and the occasional act of crime.The renegades aboard the Icarus live on the fringes of society, a collection of misfits from Garlemald, Eorzea, the Far East, and everywhere in-between.The captain of the Icarus, Leto mal Diomedes, is a Garlean defector who escaped Ilsabard with Linyu, a conscripted Doman doctor who now functions as the ship's medic. The two of them now seek to build a crew aboard their stolen airship, collecting refugees, ruffians and renegades to do whatever work comes their way. Their goal is simple: Keep the ceruleum tanks full and the ship in the air. The rest is all gravy.

  • Work aboard the Icarus includes transport and smuggling, bounty hunting, "procurement" of in-demand products, and protection of low-lying travelers.

  • Not all of the work is legal or legitimate, but the crew follows a code of ethics nonetheless.

  • Crew are being sought, including engineers, enforcers, bounty hunters, a cook, a co-pilot, information brokers, and navigators. We welcome sky pirates, defectors, outlaws, refugees, and anyone else down on their luck and looking for work.

What We offer

We are a new FC looking for awesome writers to engage in cooperative storytelling! Our RP style is what we like to call "sky western", taking thematic influence from Firefly, Cowboy Bebop, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Our characters live in close quarters aboard the Icarus, stopping at new locations every week to justify RP in many locales.

  • We run low-key, impromptu story events to provide drama and get our characters working together. These are free form RP events with no dice requirements.

  • We host frequent casual rp to build relationships between our characters, and organize group attendance at community events.

  • An ongoing "bounty board" provides hooks for members to use for spurring rp between one another, and we encourage players to run their own adventures.

  • We foster cooperative storylines between FCs and roleplay groups, to fit the Icarusand her crew into the wider world of FFXIV RP.

  • We play the game together! We like raiding, leveling alt classes, and just generally hanging out together.

Rules of Engagement

  • Be Respectful: We aim to foster a community where players are comfortable, where they can write stories and make friends. In order to preserve the integrity of our community, we ask players to be mindful of cliquey or exclusive behavior, general rudeness, passive aggression, harassment, and hateful speech.

  • Be Of Age: Some of our RP may involve mature themes and plots. As such, persons under the age of 18 are not permitted in this FC. All characters are to be over the age of 18.

  • Be Immersive: Players are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that supports immersion. When you are not IC, it's expected that you will not act in ways that disturb others who are IC, whether in our own RP spaces or out in the world. Please be mindful that your actions reflect well upon our FC.

  • Be Fair: All players are expected to follow the conventional rules of RP etiquette. This means no metagaming from character profiles or other ooc knowledge, no powergaming, and keeping IC and OOC emotions and motivations as separate as possible.

  • Respect the Lore: When you are in character, please adhere to the FFXIV lore as much as possible to preserve the immersion of other players. If you have a potentially lore-bending idea for your character, please bring it up to the FC leads for discussion.

  • Be Active: Having characters who come in and out of the plot intermittently makes it very difficult to keep a unified and constant story together for us as an FC and as individuals. Active players will have more opportunities to affect the direction of the FC plot and inactive players will be periodically removed, at the leader's discretion.

  • Have Fun: Or we'll tie you to the keel and drag you around the Sea of Clouds until you do.
